The little green monster looked directly into Shiro’s eyes, and slithered the rest of his tail out of the hole in the ground. Terrified, Shiro screamed, and threw her knife at the damned thing. “Why are you afraid?” the monster asked.
“Because you came up here and interrupted my dinner!”
“But I love you! All the others told me not to come up here and confess my love for you, but here I am. Please, I mean no harm.”
“I wish you would go away! You’re ugly and I don’t want you here anymore! I wish you would disappear!” And with the last sentence, Shiro noticed that a cold, violent shiver shook the little green monster. Shiro saw that he was quite clearly in pain, and realized what she needed to do.
“I wish you’d disappear forever and never come back!” And she imagined all different, horrible things to do to the creature. She burned it, stabbed at it, and plucked out his scales with pliers and the little green monster shrank with each prod. These invisible tools, tearing him apart until only his eyes remained. But even the two sad, tortured eyes eventually disappeared.
